MET Gala 2022
Publication cataloging illustrations of the 241 outfits worn at the 2022 MET Gala.
The MET Gala is a an annual fundraising gala held to benefit the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute in New York City. Ever since 1995, when Anna Wintour began organizing and presiding over the event, it has grown to become a much-loved annual celebration of fashion. Attendees include celebrities from a variety of industries including fashion, film, television, theater, music, business, sports, social media and politics – all of which are invited to the gala by Vogue who organizes the event. Each year since 1995, with few exceptions, guests have been expected to match the theme of the Costume Institute exhibit that opens alongside the gala. In 2022 the theme was In America: An Anthology of Fashion with a dress code of Gilded Glamour.
To celebrate the “fashion event of the year” a series of 241 illustrations were made for each of the attendees that walked the red carpet. This book compiles these illustrations and showcases detail shots that turn the intricacies of each outfit into a pattern. It’s set in Neue Haas Grotesk Display Pro 65. The oversized nature of the publication at 12x18 heightens the grandeur of the illustrations.
